EDGE announces ‘Evolve Two’ contents

Last year, EDGE Science Fiction and Fantasy Publishing produced one of the better vampire anthologies of the last several years, Evolve: Vampire Stories of the New Undead. Hot on the heels of that success, editor Nancy Kilpatrick this week announced the full table of contents for the sequel, Evolve Two: Vampire Stories of the Future Undead. The book follows the template of its predecessor by featuring an all-Canadian cast of writers offering their spin on one of horror’s oldest figures.

The table of contents includes:

Introduction – Nancy Kilpatrick
Pre-Apocalypse
“The List” – Kelley Armstrong
“Nosangreal” – Ivan Dorin
“A Puddle of Blood” – Silvia Moreno-Garcia
“V-Link” – Eileen Bell
“Six Underground” – Michael Lorenson
“Toothless” – Peter Sellers
“Outwitted” – Sandra Wickham
“Symbiosis” – David Beynon
Post-Apocalypse
“Forest-Bathing” – Heather Clitheroe
“The Deal” – Erika Holt
“Homo Sanguinus” – Ryan McFadden
“Out With the Old” – William Meikle
“Chelsea Mourning” – David Tocher
“Blood That Burns So Bright” – Jason Ridler
“Survival of the Fittest” – Leanne Trembley
“The Faith of Burning Glass” – Steve Vernon
New World Order
“Soulglobe” – John Shirley
“Red Planet” – Bev Vincent
“Beacons Among the Stars” – Anne Mok
“The Big Empty” – Thomas Roche
“Beyond the Sun” – Tanith Lee
“The Slowing of the World” – Sandra Kasturi

I like the grouping of the stories into sections – “Pre-Apocalypse,” “Post-Apocalypse” and “New World Order” give a clear idea of where those stories are heading, but it will be interesting to see where this roster of writers actually take them. EDGE puts out consistently good work, and this is certainly a title that’s going high on my list of anticipated reads.
