Al Sarrantonio publishing new anthology, ‘Portents’

This announcement at Al Sarrantonio’s website flew under a lot of radars last year, but the editor has stated this week that his new anthology project is ready to be released.
Portents containt 19 original stories “in the spirit of Charles L. Grant’s Shadows series.” Authors contributing to the book include Gene Wolfe, Ramsey Campbell, Kealan Patrick Burke, Brian Keene, Tom Piccirilli, and Joe R. Lansdale. It’s coming to us in a hardcover edition limited t0 1,000 copies, each signed and numbered by Sarrantonio, with a cover by Alan Clark.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Shadows series, or Charles L. Grant, think quiet, atmospheric horror told in the restrained style of M.R. James or Shirley Jackson. Also, get yourself to the nearest used bookstore and hunt down copies of the series, or anything by Grant for that matter.

According to this post at Shocklines, Portents is available for $30 plus shipping on a first-come, first-serve basis. There was no preorder for the book. More information is available by contacting Sarrantonio directly at
